Thursday 01302025 - Still Stippling

Confession. This is a music series, and I’ve not been listening to as much music while I work on this portrait. Mostly because when I draw while listening to music, I like to have like 3 consecutive hours with no interruptions, and that’s getting less and less common. I’m going to try and make sure I don’t miss opportunities for that because wow is it rare.

This has been such a trust the process stage. I wanted to do something different for the hair, and I ended up combining linework and stippling in a way i haven’t yet. I almost panicked when I saw the empty loops. It looked so silly to me, but I was 90% sure the stipples in the negative space would be beautiful, and I was right (imo). I LOVE the way this is turning out.

There was one particular song I had in mind when I started this portrait, but there are a couple others I’ve been really obsessed with since starting. Even though I haven’t been listening as much, I feel their influence on the way she’s progressed. I can’t wait to share the finished experience.
